of your organization, complementing existing resources and adding

Our translators are professionals with extensive
experience and degrees in their specific subject areas. Each one
is thoroughly screened and tested for superior abilities in both
language and topic. In short, not every translator is qualified
to become a TLS translator.

If you're going to file a patent application in Japan, let TLS translate your application and help you save on the markup charged by your associate law firm in Japan.
Translation costs can constitute more than half the cost of filing in Japan. With our system, you will be able to substantially reduce the translation fee while still allowing our Japanese partnering firm to handle issues related to filing, prosecution, and maintenance.
We have a network of highly-qualified law firms in Japan that have agreed to forego the translation surcharge and concentrate on matters related to filing. And you as the applicant will still be able to have direct contact with the associate firm in Japan to facilitate communications.
Having your translations prepared directly by TLS, which specializes in translations for filing, will also cut turnaround times and produce higher quality. We will of course maintain communications both with you and with the associate Japanese firm during production. The translated application will then be additionally checked by the Japanese IP attorney handling your application, and filed with the JPO.
This service combines the cost savings of a machine translation (MT) with the accuracy of an expert human translation. You can order your MT yourself or let us handle your initial MT order, and we then enhance the raw MT in a variety of ways to help you understand the document better. The enhancements range from having particular sections of the document retranslated by a human translator, to filling in the gaps often left by the machine, to having a consultation with a live translator.
