Frequently Asked Questions
General
How do you say.... in....?
We'd love to help you, but because we have to pay our translators,
we cannot provide free translations.
Why should I pay for translations when I
can get them on the Internet for free?
Automated translation is good for getting a general idea of what
a foreign phrase means, but it never produces a good quality text.
Translations undertaken by full-time, properly qualified professionals
ensure that the resulting text is perfectly intelligible, elegant
and appropriate in style and content. This takes time and skill.
For free, automated translations we recommend Altavista's
Babelfish. We hope you enjoy the benefits of this free translation
service tool and remind you that this is only a computer-based
translation, not a substitute for a certified, professional
translation service.
I'm worried about privacy. How can you assure
me that my document won't be stolen?
Simple! It is our standard operating procedure to sign legally
binding confidentiality agreements, and all of our employees do the same.
What is the difference between translation
and localization services?
Translation is translating
the application text to a different language, e.g. English to
French. Localization is customizing
an application for a specific country or location, e.g. American
English to U.K. English.
Technical
What document formats do you work with?
We work in all major word processing and graphics programs, as
well as sound and video files, and also in HTML, PHP, C++, Visual Basic, etc. Just ask! We have both Macintosh and
PC systems and a wide range of software.
How can I send you the document to be translated?
It's easier for us all if you provide us with the document in
electronic form - as an email attachment, ideally in a standard,
easy to open and use program such as Microsoft Word. We can also
handle documents received by fax and courier.
Will my document be formatted for print?
We offer DTP (Desktop Publishing) services in all languages, including
those written in non-Roman scripts.
How will you send back the document?
Again, the easiest way is to send it electronically, but we
can also return documentation by fax or courier.
Payment
How do I pay?
We are happy to work out whatever payment method works best for you,
whether it be by invoice, credit card, or wire transfer. For corporate
customers with ongoing translation projects, we may also set up payment
schedules.
When do you expect me to pay?
Our standard payment terms for corporate clients are Net 30. For individuals,
we will require prepayment or complete credit card information, to be charged
upon completion.
What if I am unhappy with your translation?
In the unlikely event that you are unhappy with our translation,
we will work on it with you until you are satisfied.
